During the South Asian Games recently held at Guwahati, the members of the different Cycling Federations of South Asian countries got together with a vision to develop and share the facilities among themselves and formed the South Asian Cycling Federation. All the member felt the need to create competition among themselves so as to improve the standard of cycling in this region with a vision to create and nurture more athletes who can participate at international platforms.
The meeting was held on the 9th Feb’16 at the Dichang Resort to elect the office bearers of the South Asian Cycling Federation. The meeting was attended by the representative of Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India. The representatives of Afghanistan could not make it but expressed full consent to be part of the same. Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Mr. Onkar Singh and Ms. Bani Ghosh were elected President, Secretary General and Treasurer respectively.
Formation of this Federation will further improve the reputation of the sports amongst the member nations and will deliver better guidance to the representative athletes.
