GIANTS innovation edge at Taipei

Giant @ TaipeiThe annual Taipei Bike Show 2017 saw Giant using its home-ground advantage to display its techno prowess. The highlight was the new Giant proprietary tubeless and puncture protection system. The demonstration of revolutionary product by slamming the wheel on an inchlong sharp nail was dramatic. The tubeless puncture protection kit can withstand upto 400 linear 3.5mm diameter punctures. The sealant comes into play immediately after the tire is pierced and seals within one revolution of the wheel!Ideal for cyclists

Also on display was Giant’s Conduct Hydraulic braking system for road bikes. The Conduct system allows you to convert your road bike’s mechanical disc brake system to hydraulic. The oil reservoir sits on the front of the four-bolt stem (basically replacing the stem faceplate)making it a suitable choice for most road bikes. With the Conduct system in place, the brake feel and the responsiveness sees an improvement, while the brake fade under severe load, decreases.

The above two innovations were bike focused while on display was also some innovative products for the rider. The all new range of Giant helmets with the MIPS (Multiple Impact Protection System) a patented system developed by biomechanics at the Royal Institute of Technology and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. It mimics the brain’s own protection system inside the skull.

Apart from the above key displays were a display of the new triathlon kits, a new e-bike range and an island display for Liv, the women only bike brand from the Giant stable. The pavilion also had a virtual reality room, where one could take a picture of themselves with their favorite Giant bicycle.
